Although we all grow old eventually, it does not mean we have to embrace the deterioration of our health. Each and everyday, we encounter all kinds of information on how to get a healthier body and have a longer life. The changes in our health drastically takes place as we grow old, and the older we get, the more noticeable these changes will be. These changes occurs discreetly that they can take place without us knowing it. These changes occurs not only in our physical state but also in our mental state. The first change to occur would be the slowing down of one’s metabolism. The body of older people has a much slower rate of burning calories compared to that of the younger ones. This practically means that the older we become, the lesser we need food energy compared to when we were still young. There is also a large decline of the sexual functions of an individual as he or she gets older. We might also notice that as we grow older the more absent minded we become and the lesser we are able to hold our focus over time and in addition we tend to do things slower than we used to. These symptoms are considered the secondary products of the chronic disease dementia.

The sad truth is that, as we grow old, so does our body and this gives way to the deterioration of our bodily functions. Our vital organs functions less efficiently as we age. Take for example the kidney, its function of cleaning the water in our body becomes less efficient. Our hearts will also start to experience a degrade in its vitality.

Know that there is no time limit as to when we will start to invest for our future especially in our health. The earlier we decide to take action in investing in our health, the better rewards we will get and the sooner we will be able to get these rewards.

It is important to be active physically at all times. If we are to maintain our physical and mental fitness,it is very important that we do regular exercise. If we only choose to be active at all times, we will be more energetic in everything we do and we will be able to avoid depression. Aside from that, it is also one way of getting in touch with the community and socialize, especially for older folks that does not go out much. Walking and going to the gym provides opportunity for old people to socialize while exercising at the same time. It is however encouraged to see a doctor so as to be guided on the right exercise regime that suites your age bracket.
